Podiatry
involves the treatment of foot disorders ranging from Verrucae,
Corns, Callus and Nail care through to the more specialist areas
of screening and caring for Diabetic Feet, Children's Feet, Nail
surgery and Bio-Mechanics. Bio-Mechanics deals with preventing or
correcting injuries or disorders of the Skeleton and associated
muscles, joints and ligaments by using Functional Foot Orthotics
(custom prescribed insoles).
Bio-Mechanics means the way in which our body moves. Many of us
are unknowingly designed with small structural abnormalities that
make us prone to foot and lower limb problems that can lead to injury
and stop us participating in our leisure and sporting activities.
If the feet do not contact the ground correctly, posture is affected
not to mention the abnormal forces and stresses placed upon Knees,
Hips etc.
Rachel doesn't just look at feet, she watches how they function.
The angle at which our feet hit the ground can be the cause of problems
elsewhere. A skeleton which is out of alignment can cause friction
and pressure on joints, bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments throughout
the body. Correct the alignment of the feet - and the rest falls
into place. Rachel is an expert in the lower limb, which is good
news for sore feet, not to mention painful knees, hips and backs.
Rachel is available for Chiropody, Regular Diabetic Foot screening,
Sports Injuries, Paediatrics and the way a child walks, Ingrowing
Toenails and Verrucae treatment. |
